  4. Bowie brought twisted futurism, the English music hall and the Velvet Underground to the touchy-feely Singer-Songwriter genre on his first truly great album. Ignored on it's initial release, "Changes" became a hit single years later, while "Life on Mars," "Queen Bitch," "Pretty Things" and others deserved the .
  5. As a result, ‘Hunky Dory’ is a kaleidoscopic array of pop styles, tied together only by Bowie's sense of vision: a sweeping, cinematic mélange of high & low art, ambiguous sexuality, kitsch & class. 8. Hunky Dory introduced a kinder, gentler David Bowie after two heavy albums laden with mythological imagery and pleasant dread—not that this album doesn't also include heavy doses of the latter. Bowie announced the outlook flip on the chipper opener "Changes" and then doubled down on the even more so "Oh! You Pretty Things/Eight Line Poem" in which he describes a comfortable domestic scene.
  9. On a personal note, my 2 favorite Bowie albums are Ziggy Stardust and Hunky Dory. Bowie was still trying to find his niche, but I suppose Hunky Dory is my favorite. Some gems on this album, Changes, Life on Mars, Queen Bitch, Kooks and The Bewlay Brothers. I'm sure that David Bowie fans will almost certainly have this album in their collection/5(1).
